Artist Profile: Shuko Akune of Yancha

Shuko Akune is a Nisei-han who was born in Wahoo, Nebraska and raised in Chicago, IL. Her mother is an Issei and her father is a Kibei Nisei. Currently residing in Los Angeles, she has also appeared on episodic and situation comedies on television. She got her theatrical start on stage and has worked as a voiceover actor.

Growing up, Shuko's mother and aunts have always taught her never to have idle hands. An old Japanese lesson and one that Shuko has taken to heart. Her line called Yancha includes whimsical tote bags and cosmetic bags. The Yancha line had its debut at the Japanese American National Museum and continues to evolve.
